The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is currently orienting Local Authorities on the implementation of the revised Cash for Work Programme.
The orientation meetings, being conducted in three phases, have now entered the final phase.
The third cohort comprises Public Relations personnel, Auditors, and Public Health personnel from Local Authorities in Eastern, North-Western, and Copperbelt Provinces.
The revised Cash for Work Programme is aimed at improving livelihoods while providing financial support to eligible beneficiaries through enhanced recruitment and disbursement criteria.
To address challenges experienced during the initial phase of implementation, the Ministry, through Smart Zambia, has developed a digital recruitment tool.
This tool is designed to promote transparency and efficiency, as well as provide a Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to ensure that potential beneficiaries are neither exploited nor disadvantaged during the recruitment process.
The tool will also be used to monitor progress of the program as well as help prepare daily registers and and fund disbursement mechanisms to address delayed payment and publication of payments.
Local Authorities are expected to commence the recruitment exercise once funds are fully disbursed.
The orientations are being conducted from Chalimbana local government training institute in Chongwe.
